Corporate Sponsorship and Stewardship Lead / *Leave

Equal Voice is seeking an experienced professional to grow Equal Voice and help us fund our work of electing more women and gender diverse people to all levels of political office in Canada. With experience in corporate fundraising, business development, government relations and relationship building, the Corporate Sponsorship and Stewardship Lead is a key position on the Equal Voice team. We are looking for someone to step in to continue to maintain and grow our capacity.

Equal Voice (https://equalvoice.ca) is a national, bilingual, multi-partisan, charity dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada. With an Ottawa-based staff of six, supported by Equal Voice’s nationwide network of volunteers, Equal Voice is an innovative and nimble organization. We have a team-based structure where everyone plays a crucial and influential role. Every day is different and there are tremendous opportunities for growth. Multi-partisanship is at the core of our work and Equal Voice brings together people from all of Canada’s political parties, united in the common goal of increasing women’s representation in politics.

 

The Opportunity:

The Corporate Sponsorship and Stewardship Lead will build upon Equal Voice’s strong networks, partnerships, and membership to generate revenue to support Equal Voice’s programs. The main focus of the position will be on developing and managing corporate partnerships and ensuring the successful delivery of the key signature profile event.

 

During the leave, the primary focus is maintaining and stewarding key and core sponsorship relationships while also growing new potential relationships.

 

To carry out this work, we are open to working with a new team member or another team/agency with one primary point of contact. If you are an agency, we are interested in how you would work in partnership with us to help us advance this work.

 

Timeframe: This opportunity would commence as early as June 1st through until December 15, 2024

Compensation: $35,000 for 28 hours a week. Open to flexible hours. Vacation accrual at 1.25 days/month.

Work Location: This position is most suitable for candidates living in or close to Ottawa, with an expectation to be on-site for key signature events.

 

Scope of Work:

· Develop new and existing corporate partnerships for Equal Voice’s programs

· Implement a prospect pipeline, including prospect research, tailored engagement, recognition, and stewardship

· Identify diverse new funding opportunities for Equal Voice beyond corporate partnerships, and collaborate with other staff in proposal development

· Design unique sponsorship recognition opportunities

· Proactively and thoughtfully engage Equal Voice’s many friends and champions in our fundraising efforts

· Lead the expansion of our online and monthly individual giving program, working with other team members in implementation

· Manage volunteers and work with staff as required

 

Key Milestones and Fundraising Events:

· June: BC Reception – 100-150 person event

· July: Calgary Stampede Reception – +500 person event

· September 2024: develop a resource and fundraising program that aligns with the new strategic plan, including a growth strategy for philanthropic donations and major giving

· December: Annual Gala – +500 reception and dinner

 

The Successful Applicant/Proposal will demonstrate:

· At least five years of diverse experience in fundraising, including considerable experience in charitable/NFP organization

· A record of successfully developing and stewarding major corporate partnerships

· Impeccable interpersonal communication skills in person, in writing, and virtually

· Experience working with Nationbuilder database and/or experience and aptitude with other databases and the ability and willingness to quickly learn Nationbuilder

· Excellent organizational and project management skills

· A track record of handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion

· Strong insight into politics: navigating challenging personalities and experience working with corporate executives, senior public and political officials

· Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and demonstrated experience working collaboratively with groups and/or individuals with diverse ideas, beliefs, and opinions

· Capacity to interact with elected officials across the political spectrum and thrive in a multi-partisan environment

· Clear commitment to EV’s mandate of working with all political parties to elect more women and gender diverse people to all levels of government.

· Bilingualism an asset
