Voters went to the polls in New Brunswick on October 21st, 2024.
On October 21, voters elected 49 individuals into office in the 2024 New Brunswick Provincial Election. Women and gender-diverse individuals won 17 of the 49 seats, accounting for 34.7% of the total elected MLAs. This marks an increase from the previous 2020 provincial election, where only 13 of the MLAs elected were women or gender-diverse individuals, for a total of 28.6% of the total elected MLAs being women. New Brunswick also made history in electing its first ever woman Premier - Susan Holt of the Liberal Party. Equal Voice is advocating for gender parity – that means at least 50% of nominated candidates and at least 50% of elected MLAs being women or gender-diverse people.
