On October 21, voters elected 49 individuals into office in the 2024 New Brunswick Provincial Election. Women and gender-diverse individuals won 17 of the 49 seats, accounting for 34.7% of the total elected MLAs. This marks an increase from the previous 2020 provincial election, where only 13 of the MLAs elected were women or gender-diverse individuals, for a total of 28.6% of the total elected MLAs being women. New Brunswick also made history in electing its first ever woman Premier - Susan Holt of the Liberal Party. Equal Voice is advocating for gender parity – that means at least 50% of nominated candidates and at least 50% of elected MLAs being women or gender-diverse people.
