The 2025 Ontario election saw 771 candidates running from 20 political parties, of which 32.8% were women. As Ontario’s political landscape evolves, it’s critical that women and gender-diverse candidates are seen as viable, sought-after political leaders. Their skills, expertise, and perspectives not only reflect the priorities of voters but also strengthen representative democracy. Equal Voice is advocating for gender parity - at least 50% of nominated candidates and at least 50% of elected representatives being women or gender-diverse people.
