2026 Provincial Election in Quebec

In the 2026 election, Quebec's main political parties ran 635 candidates, 287 (45%) of whom were women. 57 women were elected as Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), representing 45% of the legislature. This is a decrease of one from the 58 women and gender-diverse people elected in the 2022 election (who represented 46% of elected MNAs). 

As Quebec's political landscape evolves, it is important that women and gender-diverse candidates continue to be seen as viable, sought-after political leaders. Their skills, expertise, and perspectives reflect the priorities of their communities and strengthen representative democracy. Equal Voice advocates for gender parity - at least 50% of nominated candidates and at least 50% of elected representatives being women or gender-diverse people, and we are heartened by the strong representation of women in Quebec's legislature, and hope to see the numbers increase in future elections.
