Voters will head to the polls on August 31, 2026, to vote in three federal by-elections.
There are currently 105 women Members of Parliament, making up 30.6% of MPs. This is the most women in Parliament in Canadian history. Equal Voice is pleased to see the number of women in Parliament slowly increasing, and hope that this trend continues in the upcoming federal by-elections of August 31. Women represent half of the population and half of Canada's talent - their voices, skills, and expertise both reflect the priorities of voters and strengthen representative democracy. It is critical that women and gender-diverse people are seen as viable and desired political leaders. Equal Voice is advocating for gender parity - at least 50% of nominated candidates and at least 50% of elected representatives being women or gender-diverse people.
Equal Voice is tracking the candidates nominated for each of the three by-elections, and will update this tracker as more information becomes available. Women and gender-diverse candidates are identified by name, and links to their biographies/campaign pages are provided where possible. Male candidates are indicated with an 'O'. If a cell is empty, it means that a candidate has not yet been announced.
