Equal Voice Welcomes Federal Investment to Support Women’s Equality and Leadership

OTTAWA, ON – November 4, 2025 – Equal Voice welcomes the federal government’s announcement of new investments to advance gender equality and leadership in Canada as part of the 2025 federal budget.

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s first budget will include $382.5 million over five years and $76.5 million in ongoing annual funding to strengthen efforts that support women’s equality across the country. This investment will help expand leadership opportunities for women and gender-diverse Canadians.

Equal Voice views stable, long-term federal funding in our sector as an important step toward embedding gender equality in Canada’s growth and decision-making. We applaud all investments that reaffirm women’s leadership and participation are vital to Canada’s success.

“This funding announcement shows that women’s leadership and participation are key to Canada’s growth and progress,” said Lindsay Brumwell, Interim Executive Director of Equal Voice. “New funding opportunities continue to create more opportunities to address barriers, enhance proven leadership programs reach and impact, and create real opportunities for women from all backgrounds.”

Equal Voice also supports the government’s investments to address gender-based violence and strengthen inclusion for the LGBTQ2S+ community, recognizing that equality and safety must go hand in hand.

“When women and gender-diverse Canadians can lead safely and equally, Canada becomes stronger and more inclusive,” added Brumwell.
