  • Want to make sure your campaign volunteers are equipped with knowledge?
  • Just beginning to dip your toe into the political world and looking to expand your circle?

This program is designed to equip women, non-binary and gender diverse individuals with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to run for political office in Canada.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

ON SATURDAY MAY 25 10am - 5pm:

  • We kick off the day with a Campaign Strategies Panel - Speak with 3 experienced Campaign Managers about their experiences running a campaign, and learn about some strategies they deployed along the way.

  • We spend the rest of the day digging deeper into topics such as:
    • Forming a campaign team
    • Creating key messages for a campaign platform
    • Canvassing for support
    • Media & mass communications
    • Fundraising & budgeting

ON SUNDAY MAY 26 10am - 4pm:

  • Put your knowledge and ideas to the test in a mock provincial campaign simulation!

  • Participants will be split into teams of 7-10 and given a fake party name

  • Equipped with mentors and toolkit to frame your campaign, go through the motions of creating winning campaign strategies!

  • We will be joined by 2 Special Guest Judges to determine the winning team - Winning team gets a prize!

More Information:

  • There are 9 special guest speakers total, all who have direct experience with elections across municipal, provincial, federal, indigenous leadership, and board levels - as candidates, elected officials, and behind-the-scenes experts.

  • The program comes with a comprehensive workbook (fillable PDF), including independent self-reflection activities. Please indicate in the accessibility supports section of the application if you'd like a print copy (provided day of event).

  • The program is multi-partisan. When elected, it is important that we collaborate across party lines to move things forward. We acknowledge the real opportunities and barriers associated with partisanship on the campaign trail. We do not associate with any particular party. There is representation from all major parties throughout our 9 guest speakers.

  • Light snacks, coffee and lunch will be available both days.

  • It is encouraged to bring your laptop/tablet to the sessions.

  • Sessions are interactive. Nothing will be recorded. We strive to create a safe and brave space for all.

Program Cost:

  • The program fee is $25 per day ($50 total) - You can go to one or both days!

  • Don't let cost be a barrier - Financial assistance, as well as travel and childcare subsidies are available upon request! No questions asked. Please indicate interest for these items in the program registration form.

  • Light snacks, coffee and lunch are included in the program cost.

MORE SPEAKERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN A FEW DAYS!
