Community and Events Coordinator 

 

Equal Voice is seeking a Community and Events Coordinator to support the coordination and delivery of our campaign schools.  


 
About The Role: 
You will work with the Equal Voice’s national office and regional Chapters to implement events across the country. In this position you will be working in communities across Canada both online and in-person and it is likely you will travel away from home several times a year.  You will work an average of 35 hours per week which will often include evening or weekend events.

Equal Voice (equalvoice.ca) is a national, bilingual, multi-partisan, charity dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada. With an Ottawa-based staff of eight, supported by Equal Voice’s nationwide network of volunteers, Equal Voice is an innovative and nimble organization. We have a team-based structure where everyone plays a crucial and influential role.  Every day is different and there are tremendous opportunities for growth. Multi-partisanship is at the core of our work and Equal Voice brings together people from all of Canada’s political parties, united in the common goal of increasing women’s representation in politics. 

 

Employment Status: Full-time  


 
Compensation: $50,000 – $60,000 annually  

  • Comprehensive benefits package (dental and health), flexible work hours, as well as a good holiday schedule, and professional development opportunities. 
  • Summer Fridays (every Friday in July and August off). 3 weeks vacation. 10 Personal Emergency Leave Days.  

 

Work Location: Anywhere in Canada.  

 
Duties and Responsibilities:      
 
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Education Programs, and working closely with the Managing Director, the Community and Events Coordination will:  

  • Maintain calendar and schedule meetings, appointments and/or events 
  • Prepare necessary documentation for meetings and events. 
  • Provide event support for our campaign schools, conferences and receptions including logistics such as hotel bookings, meeting spaces, selecting menu options, flights, and coordinating with vendors and venues.  
  • Assist in the identification and invite guests and speakers from all parties, including elected officials, and campaign experts. 
  • Regularly liaise with Equal Voice Chapters across Canada and assist where needed to deliver regional events. 
  • Prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility at all events 
  • Work collaboratively in our small team. 
  • Represent Equal Voice with stakeholders and elected officials. 
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends, as required. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.   

     

Qualifications: 

  • Experience organizing/coordinating events, both online and in person 
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience working with databases and online document management systems. 
  • Experience working with website platforms and CRM databases. Experience working with Nation Builder is a big asset.  
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication skills in person, in writing, and by phone. 
  • Experience with volunteer coordination and engagement. 
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and demonstrated experience working collaboratively with groups and/or individuals with diverse ideas, beliefs, and opinions. 
  • Clear commitment to EV’s mandate of working with all political parties to elect more women to all levels of government. 
  • Capacity to interact with elected officials across the political spectrum and thrive in a multi-partisan environment. 
  • Exceptional ability to build and foster relationships with external stakeholders. 
  • Fluently bilingual (French/English) is strongly preferred
