Location: Remote (within Canada)

About the Role
The Communications Manager will play a central role in shaping Equal Voice’s voice and visibility across Canada. Develop and execute strategic content and communication plans aligned to Equal Voice’s mission, vision and priorities while supporting key projects, programs and events.

Lead with strategy, execute with hustle
Translate Equal Voice’s strategic plan, fundraising priorities, and program goals into clear, compelling communications that actually move people to act — donate, attend, share, and step forward. -
Own our narrative and communications space
Shape and protect Equal Voice’s voice across all platforms, ensuring our messaging reflects our multi-partisan values, feminist roots, expertise, values and commitment to equity, democracy, and representation. -
Create content that cuts through
Write, design, and publish high-impact content for web, email, social, events, and campaigns — from donor stories and election moments to program launches and calls to action. -
Run campaigns from idea to impact
Plan and execute integrated marketing and communications campaigns for fundraising, events, and programs, turning timelines, audiences, and budgets into results. -
Build and grow our digital community
Manage Equal Voice’s social channels end-to-end, content calendars, posting, engagement, and moderatio. Growing an active, values-aligned community that amplifies our work and supports our mission. -
Drive fundraising through storytelling
Support donor acquisition, stewardship, and campaign fundraising through email, digital content, and event promotion that shows why representation really matters. -
Produce and manage creative assets
Create and coordinate reports, short-form video, photography, and digital materials that bring Equal Voice’s work to life across platforms. -
Support leadership and high-profile moments
Work closely with the Executive Director on media engagements, event promotion, speeches, and talking points, and lead live and rapid-response communications during key events and campaigns. -
Track what works, and make it better
Monitor performance across email, social, web, and campaigns, using data and insight to continuously improve reach, engagement, and fundraising outcomes. -
Protect the brand and our values
Ensure all communications uphold Equal Voice’s brand, charitable and political compliance, and deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and respectful multi-partisan engagement.
Qualifications and Education:
- Post-secondary degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
- Minimum of five years’ experience in communications, marketing, or public affairs at a management level, ideally within a regulated, political, nonprofit, or professional services environment
- Demonstrated excellence in strategic writing, content development, and audience engagement across digital and traditional platforms
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proven ability to work effectively with senior leadership, internal teams, volunteers, and external partners
- Experience managing organizational social media channels and digital communications platforms
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual collaboration tools
- Familiarity with design and multimedia tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) considered an asset
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy in complex and diverse environments
- Excellent written and spoken English; French language skills are an asset
- This position requires written and oral fluency in English. Fluency in French is considered an asset.

Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Communications, specifically in digital asset management and engagement, preferably in a non-profit, advocacy, or political environment.
