For the programming of the last edition of DOV, an emphasis was put on creating partnerships with peer community organizations in order to expose delegates to diverse voices and awareness topics. The objective behind this initiative was to bring light to a range of social issues and subjects that affect Canadian society as a whole in all its diversity.
We would like to build on our momentum and offer over the following months, a series of workshops based on the same objective.
This workshop will be facilitated by The Get REAL Movement and will discuss Inclusivity 101.
Pre-registration is required.
About The Get Real Movement:
Get REAL was founded in 2011, inspired by their experiences volunteering in the Welcome Week program at Western University. As older mentors to hundreds of students each year, they began noticing that they were having success talking to their first years about derogatory (homophobic, transphobic, racist, etc) language, and creating a safe space for marginalized students who were looking to express themselves safely. They have university chapters and high school after-school programs that they are proud of, made up of creative, courageous, and hard-working young people across the country.
Get REAL was a simple idea that came from a genuine place. They offer a number of different workshops, keynotes, and presentations to fit different needs.
