New online portal connecting Ontarians with female candidates launches September 6

Sep 07, 2011

TORONTO –Two Toronto-based women are on a mission to make donating to the democratic process quick, easy and impactful. They are also encouraging Ontario’s women to make a mark by funding their fellow women this election period, which will increase their ability to win a campaign for public
office.

Amy Marlene Robichaud and Kaitlynn Dodge, fellow contestants in the 2009 CBC’s Canada’s Next Great Prime Minister competition, have teamed up to create FundHer.ca, a resource hub and donation portal that connects Ontarians with female candidates running in the October 6, 2011 provincial election.

“We are both young women who aspire one day to contribute to the political process by way of running for office,” said Ms. Robichaud.

“We want to make it easier for women who have already taken that plunge into
public life to overcome one of the greatest challenges of running a campaign - fundraising. "

"We also want to encourage Ontarians to take a minute to learn about the talented women who put themselves forward. We think they will be inspired by their potential to change the landscape of our political system.”

Check out the website and donate at http://www.fundher.ca.
