Lisa Skierka is Executive Vice President of SkierkaTech Inc. and Business Development Lead of Great Excavations Inc. An experienced public relations professional with significant international experience, Ms. Skierka is passionate about Canada’s energy, agriculture and environmental sectors.
Ms. Skierka is known for her complementary expertise in not-for-profits and publishing, allowing organizations to grow their scope and profile. This expertise has benefitted groups including the Barley Council of Canada, the Calgary Stampede, and the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance, on which she served as president during key trade negotiations with the European Union, South Korea, and Trans-Pacific partners. She is currently an advisor to the Board of Directors of Alberta’s Outstanding Young Farmers Program.
Ms. Skierka’s commitment to innovation, combined with a belief in the importance of farmer engagement, drove change within Canadian agriculture. This passion for doing the right thing (and doing things right) led to her work in the energy sector, which focuses on helping industry reduce its environmental footprint through innovation. An advocate for the arts, Ms. Skierka serves as a Board member of cSPACE, a social enterprise committed to developing Calgary’s creative talent. She is also interim chair of Equal Voice Alberta South, an organization dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada.
After growing up on the family ranch in Southern Alberta, Ms. Skierka attended the University of Calgary, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. A specialist in leadership development and project management, Ms. Skierka currently runs her own successful consultancy, Skielark Communications.
