About the Role
Sponsorships and fundraising play a critical role in supporting Equal Voice’s programs and mission. The Development Associate, Sponsorship and Fundraising will focus on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding corporate sponsors, donors, and grantors. Reporting to the Executive Director, but as a core team player, you will play a key role in building long-term, sustainable funding sources by developing compelling proposals and fostering meaningful relationships with funders.
This role is ideal for a strategic, relationship-focused ‘do-er’ who excels in fundraising, sponsorship development, and donor engagement within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and team!
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Sponsorship Development
• Identify, research, and cultivate corporate sponsors, mid-level and major gift donors, and grant funders.
• Manage a portfolio of funders, ensuring ongoing engagement and stewardship to build long-term relationships.
• Develop and submit compelling solicitations, proposals, and impact reports that effectively communicate Equal Voice’s impact.
• Oversee the grant application process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions that align with funder requirements.
• Collaborate with leadership and program teams to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities.
• Manage government, donor and stakeholder relationships, ranging from elected officials to staff.
Donor Relations & Stewardship
• Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, donors, and grant funders through personalized engagement and stewardship activities.
• Organize donor recognition, ensuring meaningful opportunities for funders to connect with Equal Voice’s mission.
• Ensure funder compliance by submitting required reports, tax receipts, tracking deliverables, and demonstrating impact.
• Proactive identification and outreach to new funders, including writing and overseeing grant applications.
Event Coordination & Special Projects
• Oversee Event Planning service providers and contractors, including support volunteer events across the country.
• Support VIP and fundraising events, coordinating sponsorship activations and engagement opportunities.
• Assist in the execution of special projects related to donor engagement, sponsorship benefits, and fundraising campaigns.
Operations & Reporting
• Track and analyze fundraising progress, maintaining up-to-date records of donor interactions and funding pipelines.
• Manage and use CRM and donor management tools (e.g., Nation Builder, Salesforce, etc.) to manage fundraising activities.
• Partner and collaborate with the communications and rest of the EV team to develop sponsorship materials, including flyers, proposals, and reports, communicate with EV’s network, and align with program initiatives.
About You
You are a proactive, strategic fundraiser who excels at building relationships and crafting compelling narratives to secure both short-term and long-term funding.
• Fundraising Expertise: Experience in sponsorship, corporate giving, mid-to-major donor fundraising, or grants. Political fundraising is an asset.
• Excellent Communicator: Strong writing and verbal communication skills to develop persuasive proposals and donor-facing materials.
• Relationship-Driven: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with funders, sponsors, and stakeholders.
• Organized & Detail-Oriented: Strong project and event management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Tech-Savvy: Excellent Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), donor or CRM databases (e.g., Salesforce, Nation Builder), and engagement tools (Mailchimp, Canva, Constant Contact, Zoom, etc.)
• Values-Driven: Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience working in multi partisan and diverse environments.
• Bilingual (French/English): An asset but not required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in fundraising, sponsorship, or donor relations, ideally in the nonprofit, public, or political sectors.
