The Path of a dedicated woman

It is with enthusiasm and dynamism that Jacinthe Gagnon defends environment causes as well as women’ rights

She sits as administrator of non-profit corporations dedicated to the environment and social cohesion. Among others, Le Quartier vert du Marigot' Laval, Pont Viau’s RUI (Integrated Urban Revitalization) and the Fête du Quartier Laval Des Rapides and Pont Viau.

She is also involved in the Zip Committee of Baie-Comeau and has worked in organizations dedicated to social reinsertion, environmental issues and waste recovery and recycling.

Jacinthe was a coordinator with organizations and regional companies responsible for the protection and rehabilitation of the St-Lawrence River. She was also a volunteer for Quebec’s Games and the Cote Nord’s Red cross, more specifically regarding the emergency and disaster relief management programs and measures

From October 2011 up to November 2014, Jacinthe was the Co-chairwoman of the Women’s Commission and sits on various committees of the NDP Quebec-Section. She is also a delegate for Federal Women representing Quebec at the Federal council of NDP Canada. Besides participating in the local and national women’s group of politicians such as: Lavalloise of influence, Politics and Democracy for Women and Equal Voice Canada, she’s actively participated in the last two campaigns of Thomas Mulcair. She has also organized several financing events for the NDP and its Women's Commission.

Her commitment began very early, at 17 years of age when she sat on her first board of directors. She was then elected student delegate in the Estates General on Education. She has participated in the Quebec and Alma’s Games as a volunteer and was part of the Cadet’s Corps in Alma, Quebec. She has followed a wildlife protection officer specialized course, making her one of the first women of Quebec to obtain such a diploma. She also holds an Applied Security and Police Management certificate from University de Montreal. She has been a financial institution branch director as well as a pension plan and asset management in addition to hold the position of a fraud prevention analyst.
