Gina Gill Hartmann

Gina recently moved to Ottawa from Newfoundland where she worked as a freelance journalist and Community Information Officer for Epilepsy Newfoundland and Labrador (ENL).

She graduated from St. Francis Xavier in 2004 with a BA in Literature and from Algonquin College with a Journalism Diploma in 2008. Since graduation, she has worked in communications, journalism and within the non-profit sector.

When a significant number of women ran in the 2017 St. John's municipal election, Gina became involved on many levels. She worked on campaigns and hosted a panel of female candidates for FemFest hosted by St. John's Women's Council. Then she worked directly with Equal Voice NL to launch and host a Pod Cast entitled Poli Fem for said candidates to discuss their policies and platforms. Upset by the media coverage of female politicians during the same election period, Gina researched and covered numerous pieces to ensure candidates were publisized fairly.
