EQUAL VOICE ANNOUNCES 2020 EVE AWARD RECIPIENT: DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER, THE HONOURABLE CHRYSTIA FREELAND

OTTAWA – On this week of International Women’s Day, Equal Voice announced that Deputy Prime Minister, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, will receive the 2020 EVE award. The EVE award is presented by Equal Voice to an outstanding woman politician for their contributions to advancing women in public life.

"Equal Voice is thrilled to be recognizing Chrystia Freeland as this year’s EVE award recipient for her dedication to supporting women and girls both here in Canada, and abroad,” said Eleanor Fast, Executive Director of Equal Voice. “Not only is she an inspiration to many women looking to run for elected office, she has been outspoken on the need for more women in politics, and has been recognized for spearheading Canada’s commitment to feminist foreign policy.”

Former recipients of the EVE award include: The Right Honourable Kim Campbell, the Honourable Andrea Horwath, the Honourable Anne McLellan, MP Elizabeth May, the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, the Honourable Flora MacDonald, Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, and the Honourable Lisa MacLeod.

This year’s award ceremony will be taking place in Toronto. Details to be announced shortly.
