May 8 -Equal Voice Founders committee celebrates five years!

The Founders committee celebrated the fact that it had been five years since a group of women gathered at the home of Donna Dasko to discuss what they could do together to address the poor representation of women in politics in Canada. That day in May 2001 Equal Voice was born. New members have joined to Founders committee over the years, and two new members were present to help in the celebration - The Founders welcome Terry Downey and Megan Harris.

A few announcements were made, but the evening was meant as a celebration of Equal Voice's growth and accomplishments that have taken place over the five years.

It was announced that Donna Dasko- Vice Chair of EV National Board has agreed to become the the Chair of the Founders Committee. Rosemary Speirs has lead this chapter with passion and motivation and is pleased to pass the torch to Donna who will continue to lead this exceptional group of women volunteers. Rosemary will remain as National Chair overseeing the continued growth of Equal Voice through chapters across the country, and will lead Equal Voice forward based upon the Action Plan that was created as a result of the national Equal Voice conference held in Ottawa Feb. 15, 2006.
