Dear Mr. Easton:
Please excuse me for
attaching a letter to you by e-mail, but I didn't think we had time
to reach you before this weekend's meeting if I mailed by Canada
Post. I will fax a copy as well.
I have written to
you on behalf of Equal Voice, a national advocacy group for electing
more women, to express our concern about the importance that will
be placed on gender equality in the proposed Conservative Party
of Canada. The Conservative Party elected our first woman Prime
Minister, Kim Campbell, and more recently Mr. MacKay has pledged
to reach out to encourage more women candidates for the party.
But the Canadian Alliance eschews affirmative actions to encourage
women's participation in politics.
I hope you will consider our letter seriously.
We are a non-profit, multipartisan group of women and men, many
of whom are active in politics, either elected or behind the scenes.
Our group has a website www.equalvoice.ca
Sincerely
